Tea & Alchemy is a page-turning read full of old world charm and DELICIOUS intrigue.
Why Sharon Lynn Fisher’s stories never disappoint
There are very few authors that are automatic reads for me, but Sharon Lynn Fisher is one of them and has been one for years. I have adored every book I’ve read of hers and this one is no exception. Sharon Lynn Fisher is the master of cozy paranormal mystery romance fantasy (cozy pararomystasy? Oh yea. I’m DUBBING IT). As with her other books, the characters in Tea & Alchemy are relatable and fun, with their own misconceptions about the world that are challenged by each other and the plot. Their interactions left me wanting to know would will happen next in their relationship and kept me turning pages.
Sharon Lynn Fisher’s settings are atmospheric and immersive
Tea & Alchemy is set in idyllic Cornwall, where a quaint town is suddenly rocked by the discovery of a body at the edge of Lord Tregarrick’s estate. The coroner suggests his death was caused by an animal attack. Rumors fly at the tea shop the next day, where our protagonist, Mina, works. When a strange gentleman stops in, she spies a wolf in his tea leaves and becomes unsettled. She learns this man is the Lord of the estate, Mr. Harker Tregarrick. As the story unfolds, she discovers he is not at all who, or what, he seems. All signs point to danger.
And intrigue.
Shenanigans ensue.
Why I could not put Tea & Alchemy down
I loved this book and DEVOURED it. Sharon Lynn Fisher knows how to balance high stakes for her characters with reader comfort in such a way that tension and intrigue remain intense and keep me on the edge of my seat, but don’t ever make me afraid to keep reading to learn how it turns out. Fisher’s writing is the highest tier of cozy paranormal fantasy. Perfect for those avid fantasy/romantasy or paranormal readers who are curious about the cozy genre. If this is you, then Fisher is your gateway.
Why Tea & Alchemy is top tier Romantasy
I thoroughly enjoyed the slow burn romance. Fisher captured the sexual tension beautifully between Mina and Harker without needing to lean on physical interaction to stay afloat and keep me interested. As with her last novel, Grimm Curiosities, The romance is woven seamlessly into the plot and compliments it rather than distracts. This story was just masterful in every way and is the perfect compliment to snuggling up in a warm blanket with a hot cup of tea.
