What’s the best way to meet new people while traveling?

As an author, I’m typically only travelling for events, which means I’m usually travelling for the specific purpose of meeting new people, and more specifically, readers. To ‘lure’ those readers over to my table, I have an attractive display of books and decorations, and I also dress the part. My novels are Greek mythology inspired epic fantasy, so I wear an ancient Greek chiton and gold laurel arm bands and a crown. At spookier events, I also have a Medusa crown.
If I’m travelling for any other reason though, I’m not going to lie, I’m not trying to meet new people, I’m trying to get in and get out for whatever reason I’m there and get back home to my hermitage. With my books. And cats. And dog. And tiny humans.
